Handcrafted pieces made with reclaimed wood from the Niagara Escarpment and surrounding region.
At Niagara Escarpment Woodworks, we create handcrafted furniture and home goods that celebrate the character of locally reclaimed wood. From barn board coffee tables and rustic barn beam benches to live edge cheese boards and custom furnishings, each piece brings natural warmth and a story into your space.
Our wood comes from the Niagara Escarpment and surrounding region. We work with a variety of local species, including walnut, ambrosia maple, spalted apple, red oak and honey locust, choosing each piece for its distinctive grain, colour and texture. Our approach is simple: let the wood’s natural beauty guide the design.
We preserve the details that make each piece unique while creating practical, lasting furnishings for your home or cottage. Alongside our original designs, we offer custom pieces tailored to your space, style and needs. Whether you have a clear vision or an idea you’d like to explore, we’d love to work with you to bring it to life.
Woodworking has been a passion of mine since I was young. I’ve always loved turning a piece of wood into something useful, distinctive and built to last.
Growing up in the landscaping industry, I spent plenty of time around tree removal. Seeing the wood that was often left behind inspired me to find another purpose for it—to turn what might otherwise go to waste into something worth keeping.
That curiosity grew into a commitment to the craft. Through early mornings, late nights and countless hours of research and experimentation, I’ve continued to develop my skills and explore what each piece of wood can become.
I’m especially drawn to the character of traditional woodworking seen in the old wood that we have the privilege of restoring— seeing the old saw marks, hand-hewn edges and tool marks that tell the story of how a piece was originally shaped back in the 1800s or early 1900's when the old beams and boards were originally fashioned. I strive to preserve these details in my designs, honouring the craftsmanship of earlier generations and showcasing the wood’s history through new, functional pieces.
Alongside these historic markings, I love the natural grain, textures and character found in Ontario’s trees. My goal is to bring these qualities together in timeless furnishings that people can enjoy for years to come.
If you have a question or an idea for a custom piece, I’d love to hear from you. Thank you for supporting my work.
Jordan Milne
